1.03) Raffles Statue 1955

The $1 Raffles Statue, issued in 1955. The stamp itself is one of two from Queen Elizabeth II series Definitives.
It features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II along with an elegant reproduction of the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles, which as all Singaporeans know, still stands today as a constant reminder of the vision of this founder of colonial Singapore. Both the statue and the stamp are fitting tributes to this great historical figure whom many consider to be the original “father” of Singapore.
